JLP launches award winning new housing at Stevenage Old Town
Smart new flats are taking the place of the former B&Q warehouse and old offices at Stevenage. The last weekend in January saw the opening launch of Blocks B & E of Vincent Place, located in the heart of Old Town.
A truly mixed tenure scheme, Vincent Place will have 155 new homes. 46 are already occupied and owned by Network Housing Trust. A further 20 are a mixture of rented and privately owned homes.
For the second phase private investors have already snapped up 25 new apartments: Affinity Sutton, another housing association is buying 32 homes for affordable renting for local people and Council nominees.
The remaining 32 flats, 1 and 2 bedroom apartments for private sale, will reach the market in the autumn through Intro Homes, JLP’s private sale company. Intro has already received several advance reservations for apartments, encouraging signs of an improving housing market. NHBC has also recognised the quality of workmanship on site with the award of Pride in the Job for JLP Site Manager, Peter Baker.
Stevenage Councillor, Mrs Ann Webb marked the opening ceremony by cutting the ribbon to the marketing suite, joined by Managing Director of JLP and Intro Homes, Peter Taylor and private investor Stephen Cole. In her speech, Cllr Webb noted that this new opening had a personal connection for her: her first home in Barnet used to back onto the garden of the Laing family home.
